Research Data Services in the Center for Digital Scholarship has three new data visualization fellows for the academic year. One of the components of the fellowship is to facilitate a data visualization workshop each quarter. This quarter, we have three exciting workshops using Python, R, and GIS software packages. spaCy Natural Language Processing Workshop
Monday, November 3, 1-2pm

In this workshop, we'll go over the basics of using a python-based natural language processing tool, spaCy, to analyze short texts. You'll learn how to visualize part of speech tagging, dependency relationships, and more! This workshop is open to undergrads, graduate students, pre-docs and postdocs. Taught by Jasmine Lu.

GIS Mapping Workshop

Do you want to tell place-based stories or put your data on the map? Join us for an introductory GIS workshop where you’ll learn the fundamentals of mapping and spatial thinking to better understand and communicate the patterns in your data. R and ggplot2 Workshop
Friday, November 7, 2:30-3:30pm

Turn literary quotes into custom data visualizations that belong on your wall. Using R and ggplot2, we'll analyze your chosen text and craft beautiful, print-ready art pieces that reveal hidden patterns in the words you love. This workshop is open to undergrads, graduate students, pre-docs and postdocs. Taught by Khushi Desai.
